France motor way peage tag
Discussion
I have a long journey through France planned in about 3 weeks and want to make it as seamless as possible. I started looking into the toll tags to get through the peage's as quickly as possible but all seem to come with an annual fee. Does anyone know of one that can be used as a one off? Or is it worth just paying by card everytime I go through one?
Actually, it''s currently free initially then 1.70 EUR for months that you use it.

Not sure whether they take UK bank accounts these days, but mine is registered to my UK credit card.

We have had one for a number of years now , it is great when towing a caravan to be able to sail through toll plazas at 30 kph without stopping and having to play with ticket machine from wrong side of car
There is a slight down side ,the one I have has an annual charge ,plus a small monthly charge for the month or months it is used ,there is also a small fee for exchange when battery dies ,you get plenty of notice when battery is getting low .All in all wouldn't do without it .
One thing i find curious, how does the system know I am a class 2 ,cameras , sensors in road ? Hummm

Thanks for the replies all, some good options there. Will get something ordered this week. Driving from calais to the alps I imagine this could save a decent amount of time
And will save the passenger some grief!
Wife asleep/reading book etc, best not disturbed while making ‘progress’ (is that sat nav in KPH )

I’d say Calais to say courmayour is a good hour saved..

It's actually a lads trip down to the alps, should be much less drama than the family trips I've done through France!Wife asleep/reading book etc, best not disturbed while making ‘progress’ (is that sat nav in KPH )
It's been a few years since I've driven through France, what's the concensus on speed limits and how much over can you get away with?
We’ve just arrived in the French Alps and have used our Bip and Go tag, bloody brilliant, absolute doddle going through the tolls, worth every penny.
Last time was an absolute fiasco, gates that wouldn’t accept our debit card, another Mrs Gunk dropped cash and it all fell under the car. This year was seamlesse
