Hi everyone

I'm looking for a nice place to stay for a few days near(ish) Dunblane. I don't know this area of the country at all...

Ideally near a lake, or a beach, or some mountains. Smallish town with decent places to eat out.

Probably looking for an Airbnb rather than a hotel.

Thanks

Have a look at Drymen and its surroundings. Very close to Loch Lomond. Plenty of accomodation and eateries in the area. A lovely old village in stunning scenery.

It's a bit further away (not too much), but I'd highly recommend this place. Stayed there last year.

More Lochs than Lakes :-) Maybe try Callander, it's near Loch Venacher. A bit touristy but plenty places to eat etc. There are lots of walks in the Trossachs, there's a good one up Ben A'an which isn't too taxing but gives you great views.

If you go there, don't pronounce it "dry men" wink

OP : view from Ben A'an, looking down onto Loch Katrine ( they do nice boat trips ). Well worth the walk!

Aberfoyle and Callender are nearish and worth checking out.

Slightly further afield, Dunkeld and Aberfeldy.

I suppose it depends on how near to Dunblane you need to be.

Crieff is also a decent shout, you said no Hotels, but Crieff hydro is very good.

Can’t go wrong with Callander or aberfoyle like people have said.

Pretty much every town is a carbon copy of each other but they are all nice places to be with good atmospheres.

Glen eagles is a not much further up the road but really expensive.
If your looking for a nice day out start in Callander and make your way over to aberfoyle taking in all the Lochs and the three Loch forest trail. Bracklinn falls is lovely too and if your brave enough you can jump in

The south beach of Loch venacher is really nice but can get a bit busy with the sailing club and campers.

We recently stayed at an Airbnb in Gartocharn at the southern end of Loch Lomond. Lovely area, accommodation and host .
