Finally dusting off the passport again after <mystery virus of unknown origin>, and have booked a week in Rhodes. I know nothing about Rhodes, other than it was cheap. biggrin

Anyone got any tips for things to do\see\eat? We're staying in Rhodes town itself.

I haven't been for a few years, but Lindos was one of my favourite towns to go to,also head down to the very bottom of the Island,a place called Prasonisi iirc, the Agean meets the Med down there and makes for stunning views.

Take one of the many boat trips to Simi/Symi, its a beautiful island.

The buses are excellent way to get around the island if you dont want to drive, and fairly cheap. In Rhodes town the buses all arrive and depart near to the habour in the new town.

We went on the jeep safari through rhodesadventures.com and had a excellent time

Rhodes old town is lovely, nice old architecture and awesome boats in the marina

Lindos is superb.

Tsambika beach is worth a visit.

Its not a big island, hire a car, even if its only for a day or two and make sure to visit Lindos.

Lindos is crowded during the day. At night it is a different place with loads of roof top restaurants and lovely bars.

Absolutely this, when we visit Rhodes we stay in Lindos (at the top of the hill) we try to avoid the village in the day because there are loads of coach/boat trips visiting. In the evening it's an amazing place, so many great places to eat and enjoy the views of the acropolis.

Rhodes Town has some fantastic restaurants, but uts worth seeking out the less well known places away from the busy tourist squares. They will be cheaper, better food and friendlier staff.

If you are hiring a car its definitely worth touring the island and seek out the little fishing villages for a lazy lunch. If you are active there is some great coast and hill walking, for something a bit different Gadoura water/dam has some great walks and the hike up to mount attavyros isn't fair trek but the views are stunning

If offered a boot of beer in small, medium or large just buy the small one.

I made the mistake of ordering a large boot of beer which was about 3 pints, takes an age to drink.

Lovely place and as above Lindos is beautiful.
