Flight disruption - Compensation refused
Discussion
Just curious more than anything. Earlier this month I was travelling on a BA flight from AMS > LHR. The morning of the flight it was cancelled due to “operational issues” and they couldn’t get me a flight until the next day.
After additional costs and a load of hassle (extra holidays from work etc) BA compensated my costs but not paying the EU legislated compensation as it was a Heathrow issue.
Not a big issue, but it seems easy for them to say that. How can I/they prove that was a cause and does the airport have any accountability? Guess it’s just the joys of travel in 2022!

Ast hem direct for compensation and if you don't get a satisfactory answer go to the Ombudsman.
Ryan Air cancelled a flight on the day of travel blaming 'adverse weather' which didn't seem to disrupt any other flights in same area - they refused any compensation, but the ombudsman dissagreed and I got it for the 4 passengers booked on that flight.
