My wife and I are going on a safari in South Afrika. We will arrive in Johannesburg and the day after we transfer to the parc. So now I have to book a night in a hotel near the airport. Any recommendations? Budget is around 150 pound.

Hi.
Are you driving yourself to the park (I presume Kruger)?

I always used to stay at the Holiday Inn at the airport and it was OK, but, that was a looooong time ago so no idea what the standard is like now.

No, we have a car transfer. And no: it is not Kruger, we are going here: http://www.africanhorsesafari.com

Looks great!

We’ve only stayed in Johannesburg itself once as we usually get a car at the airport and go.

Not sure what you want but it did us fine.
It’s a bit quirky, but they have free airport pickup which is a bonus.

As long as you aim for a four or five star you’ll be fine. Avoid anything less than four stars. I used to stay at the African Pride in Melrose Arch, but that may be a tad expensive now. The country club in Irene is also nice.

Can highly recommend here for a follow up safari:

Once my flight was cancelled and BA put the entire plane up in a hotel.
I was in the Southern Sun which was perfectly fine.

I stayed at the Protea Hotel at JHB airport a few years ago - perfectly adequate and a decent cost for somewhere quick and easy to get your head down

If you can find a good rate for the InterContinental, it's a great hotel and definitely the closest (a mere 100 yds walk away).

If not, the City Lodge Hotel is also perfectly fine for a night in transit, and usually about half of your budget (also a short walk away, about 250yds or so via pedestrian bridge).

There are others nearby like the Protea, Premier Hotel, and others, but would require a shuttle or a taxi so would be less convenient when in transit.

Before our last safari we stayed here https://hotelreservations.southernsun.com/?adult=1...
Montecasino is a short taxi ride from Joberg airport, its a fantastic place, four hotels, every type of restaurant you can think of. A massive complex.

Most of it under one roof

We used to accommodate people close to JNB every month as part of the crew change routine, always in the Southern Sun hotel

It's basically "at" the airport and as such we never had any security worries, food and bars decent also.

I normally stay in the Intercontinental when I travel with work, super convenient but not budget. I have also stayed in the city lodge and it’s absolutely fine.
