Hi all, a group of us are heading up to the lake district from Windsor next weekend. Thinking of breaking the drive up and stopping somewhere around half way on the Friday as a few can't get out of work early/didn't bother to book the day off...

So we are looking for things to do between Stoke-On-Trent and Blackburnish to do on the Saturday. All in our thirties, we like industrial stuff, so any good museums, mines things like that would be good.

Top of the list so far is the Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker.

Any suggestions welcome!

Hack Green isn't great, you'll be lucky to fill an hour if that. I'd go the Aviation Viewing Park at Manchester Airport. See some planes on the runway and taxi ways really close up and there is a Concorde, Trident and Nimrod there. They do do tours of the planes including Concorde as well, plus there is a cafe, bar.

Boat lift is brilliant as is Jodrell and I also enjoyed the Northwich salt stuff. Trentham gardens are not unpleasant either

Wedgwood museum at Barlaston which is just outside Stoke?

Interesting place even if you are not into ceramics with the bonus of a decent cafe too.

RAF Cosford is a little further south then you are asking but would combine well with a visit to Hack Green.

The Historic Sports Car Club are racing at Oulton Park.

Hover Force at Frodsham is quite good, they run various activities such as driving hover crafts, quad biking, axe throwing and shooting.
