Hi guys

The wife and I are planning a trip to the Dordogne in September this year. Slightly out of season of course but hopefully will still be pleasant weather wise.

There's quite a lot of websites to chose from that advertise gites/villa's, does anyone have experience of which ones are good, or any to avoid?

Not looking for a specific area to be in, but a detached property in the countryside with a pool would be good for us.

I know theres the usual James' villa's etc, but there's loads advertising gites.

Appreciate any input, thank you in advance

Well, it just so happens I’m sat on the patio of a house in the Dordogne that meets your spec right now. Search ‘Casa Carolina Tremolat’ or try this link. https://www.casacarolina24.com/about-casa-carolina...

Nice place, on the edge of a lovely little village called Tremolat which is on the river Dordogne so lots of opportunities for kayaking, walking etc.

House has a great pool, 4 bedrooms, decent BBQ, big garden. Really peaceful.

It’s a short walk in to the village which has a bakery, pizza restaurant (went there last night - superb pizzas & salads etc), and a bistro (booked for Saturday). Small market every Tuesday (fishmonger, cheese, meats, fruit & veg). There is also a Michelin starred restaurant as part of a hotel in the village.

Edit to add - owner is English (with an Italian husband) so no issues with language barriers etc. Really helpful and full of advice and where to go and what to do.

Sounds fantastic MDJ, bit over budget though for us think we'll have to be somewhere a bit smaller. Enjoy though, pool looks great smile

We stayed here a few years ago, lovely place in a good village right by the river.
