Sailing in the Saronics
Discussion
The Saronics are fine, it's a little further between ports than the Ionian and at this time of the year it will be very crowded, our flotilla went to Porto Helli instead of Hydra as that was full up by midday.
Watch out for the wind as it picks up quite a bit in the channels each side of Dokos, we had a cruising chute up and it was interesting dropping and wrapping it two handed.
Poros was a good stopover but crossed anchor lines can be a problem, an Italian boat picked up the anchor of the 50 footer next to us and dropped it over our chain, he was inexperienced and insisted on going out and raising his anchor upwind against my advice so picked up our anchor, much fun and games ensued ending up with me in our dinghy under his bow untangling them, luckily I still have all my fingers.
We like doing our own thing though so bailed from the flotilla for the last couple of days and went over to Sounion to see the temple then had a quiet stop at anchor overnight at Lagonisi on the way back to Athens, we also spent a couple of days in Athens on the way out so got to see all the sights there.
Croatia is lovely, we've sailed out of Split and Dubrovnik and they're both as good as each other, I'd go back to either tomorrow but Turkey is somewhere we haven't been yet so I've just started looking at what late booking discounted deals are available for September.

Split and Dubrovnik all use lazy lines. Is Greece still anchor and reverse then?Watch out for the wind as it picks up quite a bit in the channels each side of Dokos, we had a cruising chute up and it was interesting dropping and wrapping it two handed.

+1 For the Split region of Croatia, particularly the offshore islands.Only downsides are a frequent lack of wind and it's progressively become very overcrowded and very expensive over the years since we started chartering there.
