I have to go to Munich imminently and need to book three restaurants.

Not looking for fine dining, instead bistro / local food probably.

Any suggestions chaps?

The plan is, me, my wife and teenage children. However it is primarily a business trip so it may me appropriate for me to invite a business guest or two.

Ok, my defaults were always Killians and Kennedy, but not if for kids. They are good for relaxed evening stuff with biz clients. Are you in Munich centre or outside somewhere? Do you have a car or any ability to travel? If you can I highly recommend getting down to Starberg and the lake. There is a yacht club and beach club there with decking next to the See(lake). In Munich itself, I’d recommend Seehaus im Englischen Garten and almost any of the Greek restaurants, they are superb in Munich.
Oh and gelato. Any of the gelato places will be superb.

For traditional Bavarian I like the Schneider Brauhaus and the Augustiner Klosterwirt, both near Marienplatz.

Never try pork knuckle. You really aren’t missing anything!!

Can anyone help answer something that’s really bugging me. If you turn right out of Killians and go down the little alley and out past the posh dept store, I think you get on to Schaferstrasse? I am sure there was a posh/well known/ Munich institution bar/restaurant on there, but I’m damned if I can remember it’s name. I do remember gate crashing a meal between Basti and his wife one evening (details why irrelevant now). Being the Munchen God that he is, he took it in completely good grace, said hello and didn’t have us shot.

I would agree with Rusticana, and you will definitely need to book ahead.

If you want something more traditional, and away from the tourist area, I'd recommend this one (https://www.wirtshaus-althaching.de/). It's a couple of minutes walk from the Unterhaching S-Bahn, and we ate here fairly regularly when we lived in Munich. You shouldn't need to book either.

If you like burgers then Hans Im Gluck near Goetheplatz is pretty good.
