I've managed to leave my license at an FX counter after using it as ID and it is now 'lost' within the lost property system
Car hire is booked for Sunday - Budget @ Orlando airport
Ts&Cs suggest license is required but I note that DVLA offer a service to fax my details to the hire company.
I can't be the first to arrive in the US without their license, so has anyone done this with success?
TIA

It is, I believe, a requirement you have your license (sic) on you when driving in America. (Probably also when walking in the street in the Land of the Free)

If you are a member of the rental company loyalty scheme you usually don't need to show your id to collect the car.

Wasn't there a poster a while back who had left their license and the agency wouldnt release the car without the physical copy and ended up sitting the driving test, passing and then using the newly gotten license for the rental? Im sure there was.

I dont think you'll have any luck tbh without the license.

Plus, even if you managed to get the vehicle released to you, under FL state law "If you're caught driving without a valid license in Florida, you could face: second-degree misdemeanor charges. a fine as high as $500. up to 60 days in jail" - a picture of the license or other documentation could be offered, but is unlikely to be accepted.

I know you are sorted but for reference, I did this in Germany once.

Left my licence at home but the rental company accepted either confirmation from DVLA or a faxed copy of my license. It was a Sunday so no joy with the DVLA so fax it was. The only thing was that it had to be faxed from one of their branches so the misses had to drive to a Hertz office in the UK and fax it from there.

She saw the funny side eventually.
