Got to pick my aunt up to bring her back to Midlands in 2 weeks. She lives in Crawley and was thinking driving down staying somewhere and then pick her up next day drive back.

Looked at Brighton but sold out and the rest is very expensive. Any nice different places to stay, I would like to be besides the seaside.

All Sussex coastal hotels will be very expensive.

was thinking a campsite but not really sure where to start. Would like somewhere without kids running around.

Yeah, I'd give Worthing a vouch.

Premier Inn on the Seafront is the newest.

Chatsworth was a little tired the last time I was there, same with the Burlington. Ardington looks OK and has a decent restaurant.

Bewhouse and Kitchen is pretty new, and has decent parking onsite, none of the others above do.

Or, a little out of town is The Highdown, it's up on the hills and has some great views.

I will take my MTB to have a look around. It does look like very slim picking which is why I am flexible.

This area isn't bad if you want to camp.

There is a Bridle-path all the way up the river as well, or cycle lanes along the seafront from here too.

Not beside the seaside but a very nice area nevertheless:

The Plough Inn, Coldharbour - check Booking.com for deals on that one.

Simpler and cheaper, nice hosts:

The Inn on The Green, Ockley.

Yes that would be perfect but sold out on the 30th July, which I can't moan as peak season.

Minimum 2 nights though. Not cheap.

You mention Crawley. I was a member of a golf and country club nearby for many years, see here:

The whole place has been significantly upgraded in recent years and there's a variety of accommodation.

It may or not be suitable for you.
