DSA is under review after the owners have stated that "that aviation activity on the site may no longer be commercially viable" following Wizz Air announcing they are pulling out, which leaves TUI as the only operator.

I've actually got a flight booked from there in September, but that pales in significance compared to the employees who now have the possibility of redundancy on the horizon. The appeal of the airport to me (apart from being local to my in-laws!) is that it’s so quiet… which I guess is ultimately leading to it’s potential downfall.

I’m always happy to May more to fly from there.

Park right outside the door, straight in no dramas

There’s a couple of hotels, parking businesses and several other support firms that will likely fold too

I would guess Jet2 might have an interest to rebalance from Leeds-Bradford.

DSA is a nicer airport in many ways. Similar catchment for (at least) South Yorks.

Great airport with lovely staff we have used it for years now and living in Sheffield about 25 minutes door to door. If it goes it will be greatly missed.

All that work on local roads and rail links.

I wonder how much the owners will get for the land ?

Didn't they buy Sheffield Airport land for a quid and sell it to developers for a nice profit ?

I wonder why more airlines don't fly from there bad management or the airlines just not interested ?

Very sad all round frown

It is quite a good airport - good parking, modern facilities, etc. I prefer it to Leeds Bradford but it's 90 mins drive from North Leeds to DSA... I might as well go to Manchester where there are more flights options.

We've never flown from LBA because East Mids is a straight 40 min motorway trip if we couldn't get a Donny flight. Manchester .... I know it sounds a bit dramatic but if I cant get a flight from EMA I would probably not bother used to use it a lot but it's just a pita to get to and back from especially in the winter.

Manchester is quite easy to get to if you're near to a train line that goes there because the railway station is right by the terminal. Only thing then is the cost can get quite high if there are a few of you.

I have thought about the train to Manchester but I just can’t be arsed with public transport.
