Hi

I was looking to book work travel to India, but the e-visa system does not permit citizens from the UK.

Does anyone know the process for visa application?

Don’t know the specific process but it will be the normal paper-based one. The UK and Indian governments have fallen out over reciprocal rights, that’s why we can’t do the online version.

I’d also ensure I was looking at the official government site for info.

This is the official website for visa applications, as said you need to apply for a paper visa as opposed to the e-visa:
https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/

Please don't use third-party websites (such as the one linked in your OP).

Just looked back, for paper Visa you need a letter of invitation from the organisation you are going to meet (or your local branch). we used an agent to sort & bring paperwor to embassy in London . Think you fill everything online then print off etc & send everything away with your passport etc. You used to need a special Indian visa photo from the booths too, larger size than normal.. (Sorry search of my old emails doesn’t show name of agent we used)

To obtain a business visa for a rep, I used to write on company letter head to the Indian Embassy, setting out dates, the company he was visiting, purpose, and also that he would have travel insurance and subsistence paid for.

Hope this helps.

I'm halfway through the process currently. Had to fill in a lengthy online form, then save a copy (do that manually, it doesn't get sent to you) and then you can make an appointment at a centre of your choosing to go in and get the visa. I *think* (haven't checked yet) that you have to take a passport photo with you. My appointment is in a few weeks' time, for a trip in August.

Appreciate process do change, I’ve had 3 annual business visas, Never had to go in myself though.
Lengthy online form yes, but used an agency after that rather than having to go personally. See my comment re photos, used to be a requirement for specific sizes not just passport photos. (Some photo booths have this option, & they say on them “Indian visa”)

Thanks, I had missed the point about the photo size! It may be that the process is slightly different for tourist visas.
