End of August, using the Shuttle, going to Brittany. What do I need to take with me, apart from the triangles, bulbs, vests etc? Do I need one of those discs for the windscreen? Do I need to take proof of vaccinations any more?
Cheers.

Then check with gov regarding vaccine cert requirements nearer the date as things can change.

Yes a slightly dickish response but it's a very frequent question and has been given some very comprehensive answers over the years. Think this was a good thread from last month - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Thanks for that, I have been on the AA site and copied and printed their very straightforward advice. I didn't realise that GB stickers are not valid and that you have to have UK stickers now. The French doing what they do best - piss everyone off, even their own citizens.

Umm, exactly how the the UK government deciding to change the UK's international designation letters for UK motor vehicles driven anywhere in the world outside the UK from "GB" to "UK" in any way, shape, or form got anything to do with the French?!?!

Or are you maybe going back to 1337 and King Philip VI of France's confiscation of Edward III's duchy of Aquitaine?

Or as you're going to Brittany perhaps it's more somewhere between 1066 and 1488 (less clear when the English crown actually lost control over Brittany).

Absolutely nothing to do with the French (read the article!).
Anyway, once we Jimmy Crankie gets her way up North, it won’t be a UK any more so best just to keep the GB one (I jest but also deadly serious - I bought our UK sticker to cover the lovely GB euro one for our recent trip to Europe, mainly France but also Switzerland, Holland, Germany & Belgium)

That last bit is excellent advice , I’ve been stood on the auto route with a knackered vehicle rammed full of stuff for a holiday house and I’d have been a lot worse off if I hadn’t had recovery cover .
They sorted the hotels , garage for repairs and transport for the 3 days we were stuck waiting for parts . It made life a lot easier.

If your planning on using the excellent toll roads, get a bio & go tag. Brilliant.

Certainly cities need a clean air sticker. Depending on the car, easy to get.

Driving in most of Europe is far easier than driving over here.

I drove the all the way down to Spain and back a few weeks ago. It was interesting to me that a significant minority of Brits had foregone the U.K. badges totally.

I suspect the odds of you actually being stopped solely for that or for the purpose of checking if you have all the stuff you’re supposed to is basically zero. Would be interested to hear if anyone’s actually ever been checked on breaking down or when otherwise stopped eg for speeding.

So would I. Pretty sure it's zero.

I saw a UK sticker with a blue/yellow euro 'star' sticker mounted either side of it this morning smile

We got stopped in a Belgian-registered car on the motorway between the Belgian border and Eurotunnel. It was early Sunday morning and the police diverted all cars off the motorway through a parking area. Document check, driver was breathalysed and they checked that we had a yellow vest for every passenger in the car.

It was a few years back and we were actually on the way to the PH Sunday Service at Mercedes World.

As I am only travelling from Calais to Brittany (not going to Rennes) can I do away with getting a Crit Air sticker?
