Admiral was £55 for annual worldwide excluding USA/Caribbean and including winter sports. £3k cancellation cover. Seemed reasonable. AXA used to be very good but stopped offering travel cover this year. Defaqto ratings seem to be the only way to compare insurance, but just look for 5 star ratings from a big name.

The biggest problem I find is the long list of exempted activities. Anything fun requires additional insurance on top!

I took a new annual policy recently (25 June 22), it’s with Coverwise and underwritten by AXA

Platinum level worldwide policy with zero excesses and enhanced covid cover etc. there’s a couple of named pre-existing conditions on it and it was £118 for the year.

We recently used Columbus direct

Clicked through from BA shops away to get some additional Avios.

It comes with a service that allows you to register your flight details in advance so that if you get a 2hr delay or more then you get lounge access for everyone covered.

We used this returning from Cyprus. An sms arrived shortly after the delay was announced and it got the whole family into the lounge which otherwise would have cost >100E so I feel like I’ve already had a return on the initial spend smile

We are with Staysure and have been for a number of years, mainly for long-haul travel but since the Covid nonsense mainly France. Noticed last week in the small print T&C's that you need to have a GHIC card as part of the insurance, have applied for ours but they probably won't have arrived by the time we go away this month.

Also worth checking if you have any cover with your bank account.

I've just been looking through the insurance that comes with the Natwest Black account to make sure we're fully covered in the event one of the sprogs fails their Covid test before we head off on holiday, and with the one exception that they won't provide cover for using quad bikes under any circumstances, I really can't see anything that would make me think I might need to add to my cover in any way.

I took out Barclays Travel Plus Pack which is provided by Aviva, it costs £12.50 per month for me & wife (also any children living at same address).

I think it’s good value because it includes RAC recovery too for all insured persons.

We have used Staysure for the past few years but it was getting a bit expensive.

This year we are insured by Holidaysafe.

Our problem is the OH has a few health problems that always bumps the price up even though they’re not really a factor that I would consider a problem for travelling.

But obviously insurance companies have their own algorithms and you just have to accept that.
