Just wondering if anyone else has been here...I'm presuming so if they have been through the emails and phone calls we have.

We have a holiday booked in Santorini , leaving on 5th July. In April we went to the post office to renew passports as had run out. Used their check and send. Mrs Wolfer standard Renewal, and was sorted and back within a couple of weeks.

Mine was a few years out of date, so they said we need to fill out the paper forms, new photos with signatures etc. Off I ran, got that all sorted. Went back and handed in, all checked and sent off with my old passport. At the time they said around 3 weeks,

Tried chasing after 6 weeks. took weeks for them to come back with pretty much "its in the urgent processing part"

Started getting jittery with 3 weeks to go, was given several email addresses of each passport office that was to be sent when it was 2 weeks to go with a certain Subject line, and date you were travelling and proof of booking. One got back to say " Not with Us"

one week to go we used the number to apply to be Upgraded. After some time on phone , agreed it was done in time and with only a week to go put through to upgrade team, who then took all the details again and said we'll call with 24-48 hours with instructions. My passport was currently in Printing stage.
It hit that today at 3pm, so Mrs Wolfer ( as i was driving) went back and got through to the number again to be told i wouldn't be on upgrade, Wrong Process!

Said email the passport office. We said we had emailed them all, they were more concerned with how we got the email addresses! anyway, now found out it is in Durham that are processing it.

They couldn't help, wouldn't say where it was in the process, wouldn't help at all really. So presume they were bullstting on Monday when they said I was on the Upgrade list and will be getting a call?

TUI wont let us move holiday, insurances don't cover it, so a few grand lost.

presume a few people in this boat. And it's just a case of tough st?

At the moment, we've resigned ourselves to come Tuesday morning, no passport, we'll try and book a few days away in the UK.

Father in law off on the 11 July, his passport stopped working with the machines so the Passport office said to post it in and they would exchange it. This was in May. He has managed to actually get through on the phone and it is being processed, no idea if it will be back in time.

I can travel , and will, anywhere, but cant until Saturday.

I haven't got the documents they need though as when the chap at the post office "check and send" got it all ready, they sent off the old passport , and the photo's that were signed by counter signature, so have nothing here frown

Yes we had a nightmare getting the kids passports.

Took 9 weeks in the end and that was ringing them everyday for the last 3 weeks, paying extra to fast track them and collecting them personally from the passport office.

Still missed the first day of our trip.

Everyone at the passport office can suck a dick, the vast majority seemed worse than incompetent, we were outright lied to numerous times, nobody cares.

Well, after several hours of on the phones again, we are worse off, they had lied before, it wasnt with printing, its just with the examiners.

We're writing off the 2.5k now, as nothing will happen in the next 2 days.

Absolute shower.

WTF. Why did they lie? I'd be filing an official complaint.

No idea.

Apparently it was never in for an "upgrade" and never with the printers, and we were waiting for "that" call for nothing.

And yet people you spoke to told you it was proceeding. I don't think it's "Karen" to ask to speak to their manager in this case.

twice i have had to go to the passport office in person to get a passport rushed through because they reckoned the witness hadnt returned teh paperwork to them.

Two different witnesses, two different occasions, neither of them received the letter/forms which UKPO reckoned they had sent them.

Only resolved by kicking up a fuss and going to the Passport Office in London in person.

Well, another call back!

Lovely girl, absolutely no idea.

Log into Gov.uk and track / upgrade using your PBX number. - Cannot do this , I dont have one.
Upgrade yourself, how? Oh you can't , no PBX number.

It went on and on, she agreed i'd been told porkies, agreed i'd waiting long enough. Tried to put me through to a team that "will be able to help" , then came back to say she keeps getting cut off.

W.T.F

If i travelled to one of the offices on Saturday, without an appointment, i presume I will not be seen? Even if i kick off?

Mrs Wolfer in a bit of a stress, but cancelling Saturday and we calm down, and just have a few days gardening i guess.

Head down to the passport office in London. I think you'll have to book an appointment online, but you can get it sorted there and then.
