anyone had to use superhog on a booking

We booked a stay in a house through a website that's trying to use a service called superhog that vets people who have booked a rental. I understand it's purpose to stop these people who rent to then host parties etc but it's wanting info like copies of id passport/driving license! If I can get a mortgage without this info why the hell do they need it for a weekend rental.
