Turkey Questions
Discussion
Have a tripped booked and sorting out travel money, The Lira is the official currency but the hotel were keen to get paid for the transfers in euros.
Is it worth taking some of both? It's all inclusive so doubt will need much just for odd shopping and gifts.
Also am I right in thinking the sockets over there are just euro 2 pin plugs? Somehow ended up reading about type c-f and now I'm confused.

I came on this board to ask the same question!
We are off next week to do a bit of a circular tour starting Dalaman; Patara, Pammukale, Izmir, Dalyan. The misses always gets a bit hyper as the holidays looms, and sure enough "someone at work came back from Turkey" and told her they could barely spend their lira, with locals advertising in Euros and getting huffy getting their calculators out to work out the exchange.
So if travelling widely do you think 50/50 in Lira/Euro is wise? Never been to Turkey before and was told cash was king, but this just adds a layer of complication. Or should we just trust plastic?

Dalaman, patara and dalyan I have only ever spent lira. I go to fethiye about 5 times per year and that area only even seems to use lira. I know the areas around antalya and bodrum etc tend to prefer euros. Could use a revolut card and just change into the required currency there. There will be change offices in the areas and better rates than uk so other option is just take pounds and exchange out there.
Can use card in most places but be careful as the cost to use them seems much higher this year than before.

hotel is 50min away from the airport and with it being first time the little man is travelling need something as stress free as possible.
Did you just hail a taxi or pre-booked?
Further question, socket adapters are the normal 2pin euro ones okay?

Yes 2 pin ok.
Understand why you've chosen hotel transfer even if it seems expensive.
Just less hassle.
We go most years in Oct half term, usually to Fethiye and take Euros mostly and have never had a problem.
We go AI so it's used when we go to the markets for genuine fakes or a boat trip.
Most shops don't mind cards but I've no idea if it's more expensive or not, I just pay it
