As per title really, does anyone know if it is possible to save directions in Google Maps?

I can plan a route, add waypoints, play around with the order of them, end up with what I want - but cannot see any way of saving it.

What I would like to do is plan a route, play around with it, then save it and hopefully be able to go back to it and add some more waypoints, destinations etc.

Any help much appreciated.

If you're on a PC go to the three bars top left and then share or embed, copy link and save it in Google Keep etc.

If on your phone then you can click three dots in top right and add route to home screen, then you have an icon on your home screen which you can click on and either start directions or edit.

I use My Maps for this, from Maps in the browser it's in the menu sidebar under your places > My maps tab or you can go directly here and create on https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/

You can multiple layers which can contain individual direction routes or POIs, for road trips I do one direction layer per leg and put my POIs on another (or group them on separate layers etc.)

Only problem is last time I used it I'm sure I could open them on the Maps app on my phone without issue, but I don't seem to be able to now - was in Scotland a few weeks ago and had one of these set up as usual - I had go in to My Maps via the phone's browser.

Hadn't considered sharing it with myself hehe

Word document on PC desktop, various routes named, hyperlinks to individual maps, job done.
