Felt poorly yesterday, tested positive today. My first Covid.

That's the price you pay for enjoying theme parks or flying back on an aircraft full of untested travellers.

I've had it twice. The first time caught it on holiday in N.I. from Scotland, the second time on holiday in England.

On holiday anywhere, theme parks, flights or not, I guess you are just far more likely to mix with a much bigger pool of people and places, hugely increasing your risk of catching it.

Life is for enjoying though isn't it biggrin

Were you tested before you went on the flight? How do you know you didnt pick it up at the theme park and spread it on the plane?

You should have self isolated if you potentially picked up COVID.

I wouldn't worry about it. Covid will circulate for evermore and we will likely all catch it over and over again, even after being vaccinated.

We can't avoid it, so might as well just get on with everything and expect to catch it now and again like other viruses/illnesses.

Nothing else we can realistically do is there?

Absolutely.
You should have stayed at home, never to leave the house and enjoy life.
Lesson learned

With Florida's attitude to COVID I'm not surprised.

I've travelled 3 times during the pandemic, 4 if we include this past May and not caught anything but I went to destinations that weren't full of anti-vaxxers.

Turns out masks and vaccines really do work. Thanks to that most of the world has returned to normality.

Point in short, just avoid Florida. Even if you want to go to the states, you've got a lot of less infectious states to choose from. Don't let some idiots in a swamp stop you from living..

I REALLY don't agree with this view.

Yes - stay at home if you've actually GOT Covid - but seriously - "self isolate" if you've been somewhere where you MIGHT have caught it. I've never heard so much rubbish in all my life.

You have to be tested the day before flying out to Florida. But coming back, there's no mandatory testing. If there had been I'd have still been on the flight as I tested negative yesterday.

Im actually surprised I haven't caught it tbh - been over to Florida twice in 5 weeks and spent a week in Universal IoA / USF each time, plus this time round ended up in the ER for a few hours after my daughter ruptured an eardrum and Orlando Health was a veritable petri dish of people.

I do have a minor sore throat today and did a test out of curiosity but its negative.

I certainly wouldn't let it stop me travelling though, thats just insane considering how mild Covid is on the latest variants (especially for the previously vac'd and boosted people)

You can have caught it but are generally asymptomatic for 3-5 days (and up to 14 days) before the onset of symptoms and you are at your most infectious for the 2-3 days prior to onset of symptoms so, sadly, you probably caught it in America and you probably took it onto the plane.

LFTs really are hit and miss on accuracy.

Seriously fella we’ll all have Covid at some time or other. I’m done with masks though I will have to play the testing pantomime before flying to the USA later this month.

When was the last time you were tested for parrots?

I reckon it was the Hagrid ride last Thursday.
Horrible handgrips harbouring Covid...?

I was more anxious about the usual throng of people in Hogsmeade than the flight. I reckons I were right.

Most people in this thread, myself included, aren’t sure what your complaint is?

You caught covid. What’s the problem?

It isn’t going away, ever, and will continue to circulate as a virus. We are all going to catch it, probably multiple times, for the rest of our lives.

With the strange exception of myself, pretty much everyone I know has had it once or twice now, and no one is bothered. They just accept they will probably catch it again and are getting on with everything they used to do, without a care in the world. This includes my parents who are in their 70’s.

For context, I’m not someone who thinks it’s a joke. I’ve been double vaccinated, worn my mask when previously required, and so on. But I’m not under any illusions that we can avoid catching covid.

Just go on your holidays and forget about it. Treat catching covid like catching the flu or a cough. Just something that happens.
