I need to pick a car up from Taunton and finding a way to do this without spending fuel on 2 journeys with the car to get there and back and then the new one is making my head throb.

Trains are 30+ quid and closest salisbury or dorchester which is another hour each way in the car.

Has anyone got any ideas on how to get One Way from Bournemouth to Taunton other than hitch hiking.

Train is £39 to £53 Bournemouth to Taunton , takes somewhere between 2.5 hours to 3.5 hours, requires change of trains. (found via Trainline)

(Coach is £22 Bournemouth to Taunton but takes over 7 hours!)

Yes, I know and im trying to find alternatives to these.

It's a 1.5 hour drive yet trains absolutely ridiculous cost and times.

My mistake. I was letting you know that you can get the train to Taunton as I understood from your opening post that you weren’t taking the train as they only took you as far as Dorchester or Salisbury and you would then have another hour by car.

You could fly! Bournemouth to Dublin, Dublin to Glasgow, Glasgow to Malaga, Malaga to Exeter. Then a short train/taxi ride! Only £150/23hrs!! wink

You have picked an awkward journey, even by car. So it looks like you ask someone to do a 3.5hr round trip to drop you off, or you settle back and read a book for a bit on the train.

You won’t beat the train price at £37 and 2.5 hours.

It would cost me more to take you in my M5 in petrol and I live in Bournemouth.

Not sure why you aren’t getting booked up, any other option will cost more.

If you were going from Poole I could give you a lift back to Warminster, train to Taunton takes 45mins for £15 laugh

Bournemouth - Weymouth is £15 by train.

Weymouth - Taunton £17.40

Both scenic routes - just make a day of it...I live near muff but that journey would cost me £39 in fuel (return)

looks like I'm at a deadend with it. Last option is drive to folks in dorchester, train from there for 1.5 hours, leave car there and then pick the car up over the weekend.

It's the car logistics of getting a train from Bournemouth or Salisbury or others thats the problem. If I take the missus then that involves limited slots or taking baby out of nursery.

Also if I get a train that'll be 5 quid and an hour trip by bus into bournemouth!

Wtf is this all about...a 5pm Train...139 quid from Bournemouth to Taunton and 3 hours long, who pays this stupid amount.

That seems sensible, could folks drop you further up the line ?

I've changed option.

Missus will drop me a salisbury (will avoid Russians on benches) and will get train from there.

Train 30 quid 2 hours.

Or I could get the train from Salisbury to Exeter and then to Taunton crossing three (or possibly 4) counties LOL
