My last jab was Aug 21. I have not had any boosters since.

I am hoping to head off to the Canaries at some point this winter for a long break maybe Dec & Jan. Plus probably France for a couple of weeks at some point in October.

What is the best strategy for covid jabs?

Do I need just a booster or 2 doses with the gap between?

It seems that there is a time limit of around 270 days?

So I would be looking at first dose August? Or if just one jab then I could do it in Sept and be ok till March/April?

I'm pretty sure you don't need anything for travel to France now. I don't know about Spain, but I'd be surprised if there were any restrictions remaining by the end of the year.

I had to upload proof of vaccination for the tunnel last week. There was probably some declarations alternative though.

For the winter - who knows ? There may be a new wave requiring boosters, or there may not.....

Currently no NHS option unless you're 'vulnerable'

I flew in and out of France last weekend (Nantes) and there were zero Covid checks.

For the tunnel we travelled last week, one of our passengers had 2 x jabs in England and a booster in Scotland, so on paper the booster is jab 1 of 2 as NHS Scotland use a different system rolleyes eurotunnel wouldn’t accept the Scottish booster but uploading the NHS jab 1 & 2 it accepted it with no issues.

As the rules for Spain are currently, you simply need a third jab to travel. Whether you need the third jab for medical reasons is another question!

No idea if these rules will change before you travel later this year. The 'experts' are now having to walk a fine line so as to not undermine their previous scaremongering.

Or you can travel freely within 180 days of an NHS positive PCR test. However, the virus is so 'dangerous' that these tests are no longer a default option. This positive test within 180 days is how I will be travelling to Spain later this month.

p.s. they are not boosters, that was simply a narrative created because they oversold the first two jabs.

You can enter Spain with a test now. Most other countries have zero entry requirements. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/ent...

A general point. Why would someone take a vaccine they don’t need in anticipation of travel rules that don’t exit?! Time to close this thread before others read the inaccuracies and silliness making them fearful again. It’s gone. Get on with your life rather than worrying about dying.

In theory same for France but earlier in the year the only check was someone at check-in desk at the departure airport. French Border force didn't check, and the check-in staff at the departure airport were very happy with 2 jabs.

Thanks, I think I will hang on a couple of months then and see what happens.
