Wife and I are flying to Heathrow from Edinburgh on 5 Oct.

Land in Heathrow at 9.35 and depart to Athens at 11.30 both from terminal 5.

This seems a bit tight but it’s through a travel company so presumably they think it’s okay.

Do you think that timescale is okay?

Should be ok - it’s just your hold luggage that might struggle but I doubt it.

Minimum connection times at T5 are an hour, so you should be fine.

Thanks all that’s reassuring.

On a related matter on the way home there’s a 5 hour gap at Heathrow before the flight to Edinburgh.

Pay for a lounge or any other suggestions?

There’s just about enough to do at Heathrow and I’d never pay for a generic lounge in any UK airport. They’re all pish IME and it tends to be where (much of) the riff raff actually go these days.

I realise I sound like a grump, but don’t mean to. Don’t waste your money.

Not sure if you already have one but if you take an Amex gold card you get two free passes for lounge access. The Aspire lounge charges £40 per person for entry. If you do just make sure to cancel the card before the free 12 months is up. I wouldn't pay £40 to enter it but its OK if free for drinks and snacks.

Make sure check in and cabin crew at Edinburgh know you are connecting at T5. If the connection is tight BA will get some one to meet you at the arrival gate and frog march you(*) through the terminal if they have to. IME your bags should make it but I would pack 2 days worth of anything crucial, particulalry medication, in a carry on.

2hrs should be plenty. I’ve done terminal changes with less time than that and still had time for a beer in the lounge before boarding. Good luck.
