Other half and I are looking around for a 2 nights away over the Jubilee weekend from Thursday, probably in a B&B somewhere quiet and relaxed (where there's only a pub and a post office in the village, that kind of thing).

Based in Essex but happy to drive anywhere really. Wales, southern Scotland, anywhere in England...

I'm aware it's going to be challenging finding some accommodation over the Jubilee weekend, but I'm willing to look around.

Try The Roebuck Inn at Mobberley in Cheshire. We had a couple of nights there in February and really enjoyed it.

We had a lovely break at Ilsington (Dartmoor) a couple of years ago, thoroughly recommended

Thanks for the replies, Dartmoor is nice for a few days away, and The Roebuck up near Knutsford looks great. I'll add it on the list for future trips.

Almost managed to book the Jamaica Inn near Bodmin but the room went by the time we'd faffed around and got round to confirming the booking.

Booked a couple of nights in a village just outside of Ripon as I used to live in Harrogate and it's a nice part of the world, then one more night in Woodhall Spa near Lincoln

Try the Kames Hotel in Argyll - about 2 hours from Glasgow Airport via hire car.

Picture postcard, fits your vision perfectly.

EDIT: scrub that, saw you are driving. A bit far
