Easyjet and TUI flights cancelled and long queues at some UK airports as passengers face half-term disruption
Looks horrific fly or drive.
Those championing it’s cheaper overseas …. Well 7 day holiday will be much less and loads of stress.
OP given the queues you can see if I were you I’d be driving down to arrive way before 5am / 4am. Then just relax front of the queue / wait for your go.

Thanks but that’s a ridiculous comment! Easyjet and TUI flights cancelled and long queues at some UK airports as passengers face half-term disruption

Not really my concern if people make it or not but I’d not want to be risking ruining what I’d assume is your one and only holiday of the year.
Good luck.

We arrived in France this morning.
Decided to set off at 3:30am to make an earlier crossing after hearing about the champions league final being on today
The traffic at that time was clear and we were first in the queue.
I wouldn’t want to find out what it’s like at this time
Badda username I think you’ll see it’s not a stupid comment at all as this poster has done so and now enjoying their holiday. Decided to set off at 3:30am to make an earlier crossing after hearing about the champions league final being on today

I wouldn’t want to find out what it’s like at this time
Hope you do the same
We crossed this morning and it's very busy.
I'd aim to get there an hour or two before crossing, it was queued up for a few miles on the M20 (although you could join closer to the junction!)
Also, if you use Waze, do not follow it and come off the M20, it's trying to detour and join on a road that joins after you exit towards the tunnel on the M20 but it's shut...lots of people including us were sent on that detour!

We left last night after school for a 5.10pm crossing (we are 20 mins away), got bumped to 3.50pm crossing (result), and have an overnighter in Paris, now on enroute to the med just south of Claremont Ferrand having lunch.
North France is full of cars/coaches all with red flags /scarfs! & there’s a gang of kids at the euro tunnel petrol station trying to spot nice motors with cameras!
We flew through security /boarder control, might be worth getting a later train?

Thanks Benjy, that's useful. We'll leave an hour earlier than I was planning then I think. I'd aim to get there an hour or two before crossing, it was queued up for a few miles on the M20 (although you could join closer to the junction!)

Question how long do you think the queues are? 3/4/5/6hours? If your ferry is 10:30am you need to walk back from that time.
Welshbeef, yes I understand how delays work and how they affect the expected time of departure. I think I grasped this concept when I was about 7. You're not obliged to offer 'advice' on all things you know. Enoy your half term. Thanks to the posters who've had recent experience, it's really much appreciated.

I post something stating the bleeding obvious and you rubbish it.
Then another poster posts the exact same thing and you are so grateful for the advice.
Say no more.

I drove to the tunnel at the end of April and the 150 mile journey took 4.5 hours. I drove back a couple of days ago and it took just over 2.5.
