Travel insurance claim?

Anyone made a claim for theft if so how long did it take to resolve?

I am 6 months down the line. Never claimed before so not got a clue how long it should take. Every time I contact them they just say they need another 4 weeks. The claim was submitted the day after the incident, they had all paperwork a few weeks later. Since then I am just chasing and chasing.

Its meant to be a "premium" policy with a well known insurance company.... hmm...

Its not for a massive sum but thats not the point. Anyone got any suggestions?

Its been a long time since I last had a claim for theft on a travel policy but IIRC it was done and dusted in a couple of weeks from them receiving all the documents / crime number / police report etc.

I did have a little hassle as the police report was in Thai so I had to have it translated by an official service which took an extra couple of weeks in the submission window.

Frankly 6mths is a joke.


ETA: it was 2017, not at long as I thought but still a little while ago

Well still nothing. Have started a complaint over 2 weeks ago and still not getting anywhere. I guess next stop is the ombudsman.

Its been 8+ months now.

If you need travel insurance and are looking at policies my advice is to check trust pilot before you buy not after no matter how well known they are!
