Camino De Santiago. Anyone done one of the routes?
Discussion
I'm thinking about doing one of the original pilgrims walking routes to Santiago de Compostela. I've got 2 weeks to play around with and am planning on going at the end of August. There are 2 routes I'm considering:
1) Camino Primitivo from Oviedo to Santiago de Compostela. This is 315Km and may push the time I have available.
2) Camino Portugues from Porto to SdC. This is 238Kms. It's a newer route and partly runs up the Atlantic. This shorter route should give me a bit more time for travel and sightseeing at the start and end, plus is easier to get to Porto.
For convenience I'm also thinking of using a tour provider like Camino Ways.
Has anyone done this? Any hints, tips or advice? Can I wing it when I'm out there (August is likely to be busy) and are any of the tour providers any good?
Thanks
Edit: I'll also be travelling solo if that makes any difference.

Hi. We did part of the Camino Portuguese at the end if April. We went with Inntravel. Flew to Porto, had a day there and started walking from Tui. Had our luggage forwarded and stayed in Paradors and nice hotels. We did the Variante Espititual which included a river trip.
Was very enjoyable and not to hard.
Walking was mixed, stunning vineyards and quiet rivers and some busy roads with industrial estates on the edge of towns. Happy to provide more detailed info if you wish.
