Am starting to plan my next holiday (not been on holiday since Jan 2019!!), and am planning on snowboarding.

Having amassed a significant amount of Virgin air miles, i have booked a reward flight to L.A at the start of next March.

I plan on a day in L.A (must re-visit the Peterson Museum), then will fly to somewhere snowy for a week of snow fun!

I spent a couple of days in Colorado some years ago during the winter, and loved he place. Spent a day snowmobiling here - which was one of the most fun days of my life!
So am considering going back here, as there looks to be many ski resorts here, loads of snow-mobile places, and plentiful cheapish flights from L.A.

Also considering somewhere like Jackson hole in Wyoming, which i have also briefly visited, and seem a great place. However flights from L.A are a bit more sparse and expensive.

I am no pro snowboarder, but am planning on getting a few more lessons and slope time at the Snowdome before i go, but i will be at novice level!

So where do you guys recommend?

We have a home in Aspen so I'm happy to answer questions. It depends what you like, whether you want crowds of people or being in vast open spaces etc. You could look at Buttermilk near us for a starting slope? It hosts the X games if you're interested in that. Vail is a good place and very large. Ive heard Telluride is a lovely town, but never been there personally.

Thanks Guys, I hadn't considered Salt Lake City, which having now researched looks perfect.

Alexandra, Vast open spaces are more my thing than packed with big crowds, and would want to avoid big que's for the lifts etc.

But im leaning towards SLC now, and the city is pretty close to the ski resorts, reasonable flights from LA (around £420 return in 1st), can get a Motel 6 in SLC for £310 for 7 days (not interested in posh hotels, as only want a bed for the night!), and looks great.

Would be aiming for 4 days snowboarding and a day snow-mobiling, plus a day driving/wondering around in the snow!

Take a look also at Mammoth Mountain (my favourite) and Tahoe for variety of easily accessible resorts all within 20-30mins drive.

Have skied/boarded 30yrs in Eu Alps, Jackson Hole, Salt Lake City, Vermont, Tahoe and Mammoth is the place I have been back to the most - its either a huge dumping storm or blue skies.

Just to add tho' when I was in Jackson you could do a full day on sno mo's in Yellowstone - circa 100miles IIRC - speed enforced tho'

My best sno mo days have been in Mammoth where the lead sets his speed according to the group - just epic!
