Hotel/Inn tips - Penrith to Lancaster area

We're heading down south in late June and would like to break the M6 journey up with an overnight stay anywhere around this area.

Any top tips ? Its for the family, so no youth hostels etc....

We stayed at the Villa Levens which is there or thereabouts - just off the M6. Depending how old your kids are, there are a few bits and bobs to do around the area too. We were also breaking up a trip back up the road.

It's nothing special, but on a nice day was a lovely setting.

North Lakes hotel at Penrith is nice. Unusually the hotel at Tebay services is quite nice also, albeit no pool etc.

I was going to recommend the Holiday Inn at Lancaster, as we stayed there for £60 including breakfast in 2019. Looked at staying there in August and they’re asking for £170.
