Anywhere quiet in Southwest Spain?
Discussion
Maybe I'm looking for the impossible, but I'm trying to arrange a wee trip that'll keep both me and my wife happy. She wants to visit Seville and Cadiz, I want somewhere quiet to stay.
She's not bothered where we stay, as long as she can be within driving distance of the two cities for a couple of days and evenings out. I just want a quiet Airb&b type place, edge of village with a couple of quiet bars/restaurants, peace to read and some nice walks. Neither of us want a resort type place, sea or lake would be a bonus, but no big commercial beaches.
We'll be going in September and will have a car.
Any suggestions?

Pretty much anywhere near the coast so long as you stay west of Gibraltar, I'd say. It's all very sparsely developed and low-rise on that part of the coast between Gib and Portugal due to the fact it's so windy compared to east of Gib. Lots of surfer dude type beaches and all that.
Don't park on the street in Seville - go to a proper patrolled car park. There's a fair bit of break-ins targetting non Spanish registered cars and obvious rental cars (cheap white goods cars with agency stickers all over them). They think there's more likely to be something worth nicking in a tourist's car. Ask me how I know...

We were down that way about 3 years ago, we flew into Seville and got the train between there, Cordoba and Cadiz. I liked Cadiz the best - we were there in October or so, so most o the crowds had gone. There a small city? called El Puerto de Santa María across the bay from there, you can get a ferry across from Cadiz. We went for an afternoon to try the Sherry and I actually quite liked the place. There are beaches but I didn't go to them. I'd go back to Cadiz though.
