Flying with BA Glasgow to Larnaca via Heathrow in September in and out of terminal 5, they’ve just sent me an email saying that my Larnaca leg has been brought forward leaving me 30 mins to connect, tried to phone but their not accepting phone calls, would be grateful for any advice

September is plenty time to sort out of it needs to be changed. Ping an email to them & see what happens, might be a better timed flight out of Edinburgh (I alternate between airports).

30mins is tight, make sure at checkin your bags are marked priority/short transfer, all your details will be checked for both legs at Glasgow - make sure you go to connections not “arrivals” as I’ve heard folk do!!

Pre - short staffing, most Flights landed 20mins early & it should’ve been achievable, issue now is getting off the plane as there can be delays with sky bridge if no staff.

Just checking, are you giving yourself 30 mins as it’s a 1hr gap (ie 08:35- 09:35 seems to be flights I’m seeing & that’s probably ok).

Mate - you could try and catch that connection 100 times and miss it every single time. It's almost impossible in normal circumstances, let alone present circumstances. We were on a BA flight last week, there are regularly small 10-15 min delays at various stages, departure lounge, take off, then you make up the time in flight, then you don't have a stand, then there is a small wait for the bridge. Impossible. You need to sort it out prior to travelling, get it changed. Don't attempt this and hope for the best.

There was one lad on our flight, sat behind us 3/4 up the plane, he was fuming, kept checking his watch and swearing. Then he started trying to make his way up an extremely narrow aisle with people already standing there, everyone looking at him thinking what the heck are you doing, they could barely move, once they let him past he was only in front of them, he was trying to make a series of 1ft advancements - painful to watch.

Do you want to be stressed?

When I travel I like even more time than they say. I recall allowing 3.5 hours to transfer at Charles De Gaulle instead of the recommended 1.5, and I'm glad I did. I strolled to the gate (for the 1.5) anyway just to see, and I just made it. But two people from my inbound flight rushed up behind me and didn't make it. I saw their frustration as I sat down for my planned coffee and croissant. The best 2 hour wait I've had!

Even if you manage to make the connection your checked bag has no hope.

Pre Covid, the Airline’s would not book you onto something you could not make.

I suspect Larnaca leaves the A Gates, so no Shuttle (although I always go to the basement & walk as know how long it takes & I appreciate the cold & quiet)

I’d still try & email them though & try to change.

You are below the Minimum Connection Time so you don't have a valid booking. Don't worry though.

BAs process is that it often takes a while for their systems to sort themselves out & rebook you to a valid connection. It will get picked up & corrected.

You could try emailing, but you are unlikely to get much of a response. Don't bother phoning unless you have a gold card or above, you won't get through & they will only tell you what I've said.

Many thanks GTO, this puts my mind at rest somewhat.
