Going to lassi in kefalonia for a short break in June,
any recommendations for restaurants in lassi or argostolli?
Also toying with the idea of renting a car for a day or two to see a bit of the island-any car hire places recommended?
Don’t want anything fancy-an old Jimny or similar will be fine…
Cheers

A place called Kefalos restaurant was pretty good in Lassi and I also used CBR car rental across the road. I just took a Fiat Panda but they had Jimny’s and other stuff.

I can’t really recommend anywhere in Argostoli and apart from seeing the turtles in the harbour, I wouldn’t really bother going as it hasn’t got much going for it. Very busy, not particularly clean and pretty run down.

I’d highly recommend a drive to Antisamos beach which is amazing - most beaches in Kefalonia are excellent, but Antisamos had easy parking with great beach bars and facilities - waiters will come to your sun lounger for drinks & snacks.

If you have a spare day and you like being on the water, hire a boat from Boulevard Boat Hire in Agia Efimia and you can sail along the coast to deserted coves where you can drop anchor and have a picnic - it’s a memorable little adventure. The boat company owner is a Dutch guy called Johnny and he’s extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

We loved Kefalonia and hope you have a great time. (I seem to have rambled on a bit…)

Been a few times over the years. A stunning island - a hire car is a must - get to a few of the places that are off the beaten track.

Fiskardo is the old capitol at the north of the island. Lovely little port. You can hire a speedboat and get over to Ithaca for the day.

Kephalonia is lovely, I've been several times. Used to stay in a villa in the south near Trapezaki beach (not far from the airport), it's very quiet there but with fewer bars/restaurants.

Argostoli is OK for shopping, but beware the opening hours, IIRC the shops open until around 13.0 then close in the afternoon before opening again early evening.

The small port of Assos (north west) is a nice chilled-out place with good bars, plus an exhilarating walk up to the castle on the peninsula.

Mirtos beach is an iconic location and beautiful, but the parking can back up so be prepared to walk.

Sami is a cool place, and the caves near by (Melissani?) are a couple of hours well spent.

Enjoy - I'm jealous!

Had similar thoughts re hire car when we went on holiday pre lockdown .... Old Suzuki convertible Jeep. I'd say stick with a newer/more reliable car (ours lost it's serpentine belt) Thankfully hire company sent out 2 chaps with a brand new 4 door fiesta (that also had AC !!) Took them about 2 hrs (luckily near a bar)

Absolutely a beautiful Island - FIskardo as already mentioned, Agia Effimia, Sami, Antisamos Beach etc
