Things to do in Prague
Discussion
As per the title really. Five of us (all gentlemen) are off to Prague shortly for 3 nights to mark our 60th birthdays.
I tried doing a search but all the threads on this seem really old.
Any suggestions for things to do? We're too old for clubs but any suggestions for bars & restaurants are most welcome.
We'll be staying in the centre (Old Town) and I don't think the boys will want to venture out of town.
Nothing too racy (we're all married men) but anything vaguely cultural would be good. Any 'must see' attractions?
Thanks in advance.

The railway restaurant in Wenceslas Square was on TV the other night, a fascinating place. https://www.pragueexperience.com/places.asp?PlaceI...
Your beers and food arrives in model railway carriages.
If that's not for you there are lots to choose from on that link.
I haven't been there since the 90`s, when it was great, with cosy jazz cafe`s, and very cheap. From what I`ve been told boozing Brits and Germans have now spoilt it. Plenty of noisy disco bars and lap dancing clubs. So do plenty of research, I`m sure you will find some super places to eat and drink.

Head out of the city centre into the zizkov district which is much more authentic, the TV tower there has a restaurant and bar at the top and has amazing views over the city.

Last time i was there, i got someone pregnant - Luckily it was the wife!
The beer is potent stuff.
The Jewish Cementry is worth a visit.
The castle is good.
The John Lennon freedom wall makes for some good photos.
Also went to see Swan Lake at the ballet, that might not be quite what you're looking for though!
It is a lovely city.
Lots of excellent bars, cafes and places to eat just off the main squares.

There's plenty of things to see on Wenceslas Square, depending on the time of day / night .....
I was in Prague in Sep 2020 with a mate, between all the lockdowns. Managed to get a 5* hotel, Hotel Kings Court, for about EUR110/night incl. breakfast.
We walked up to the Petrin Tower on a sweltering day - then realised there's a funicular that runs up and down that bloody hill!
Went on the train to Pilsen, which was pretty cheap, and did the brewery tour at Pilsner Urquell. The brewery and city centre are walking distance from the station.
We walked pretty much everywhere in the City.
It's a great city with great beer (cheaply available) and great architecture, and just sitting an people watching can be fun.

2 things we did that stood out was the top gun shooting range and the Segway tour which takes you around the city.
Never did the guns but did do the Segway tour - got told off for dicking about, but I think that was more down to the guide's failure to recognise my innate and preternatural ability on a Segway. The beer is excellent. The sausages are excellent. The boat tour along the Vltava that we went on was good. The Strahov Stadium is very cool if you like seeing the biggest stadium ever built looking a bit shabby - the Segway tour went to it.
We went to this restaurant several times on our trip, its just off the main streets so a lot better value for money

They do a lovely steak/chips/green beans + beer offer and also lots of traditional food.

Try and get to St Cyril and St Methodius Cathedral
You can enter the crypt and pay your respects to the brave assassins of Heydrich and see where they met their end.

Went here during a stag do many years ago. They had a German Oompah Band wandering around and most people were singing along. Was great fun.

I'm struggling to guess where you got her pregnant as there is no obvious location. The beer is potent stuff.

Cemetry
Castle which is full of tourists.
Against a wall... Which has a lot of tourists.
An ballet... Which has a lot of tourists.
I'll need a clue re: location, but you're either Goths or exhibitionists.
Hopefully this works. A google map I used when I took the wife there - having been 3 times with the lads shooting

Jewish quarter is good, pop into the library on the way there - stunning cold war carvings inside, plus an infinity book tower...
If you like classical, some of the churches have classical evenings, the acoustics are brilliant.
Don't discount the other side of the river, interesting statues, crawling babies, John Lenno graffiti wall. The city is full of of moving things, statues in weird places.
Take the railway to the top and go up the very rockey observation tower. Walk back down and half way is a weird house The magical cavern

The beer is very cheap, as are russian dolls. Far side of the square is the Dubliners pub, good for live music.
The Paladium shopping center isn't far to walk from the main square and has a cheap food court and toilets, but the food there is great.

The KGB museum is well worth a visit. It's really small, but there's an eccentric guy who walks you round and shows you everything. I can echo the trip advisor reviews. It really is very entertaining.
