Last minute cruise
Discussion
My wife likes cruises (I can take them or leave them).
Since I retired money is tighter than before obviously so we’re looking to save money.
Any recommendations on ways to get cheap cruises, we are literally able to pack a bag and go to anywhere.
Phone up the cruise companies? Go to a travel agent? Surf the web (although last minute on there isn’t particularly cheap)
There are tales of people getting cruises for peanuts but are they urban legends?
Repositioning cruises can be good value

The best I was was Europe to the Carribbean for about £700pp.

Should be able to help.
What’s your definition of cheap? Roughly what £ per day and what do you expect for that?
You like to fly or sail from the UK?

We’ve done the Western Med to death and done the Baltic too.
Eastern Med , Greece, Caribbean not really fussy so sail from the UK or fly.
Decent cruise line i.e not Costa or similar.
I’m really looking for a source where I can find something dirt cheap at a few days notice.
Not much to go on…

As stated, Iglu’s site is probably the best for being the most accurate for last minute departures.
Get yourself signed up for all the different agents email newsletters.
I’d also try and find a good independent cruise specialist who will actually check things for you (no chance someone at one of the big specialists will, you just won’t be that valuable to them being Frank!) however, if you find someone who works independently then chances are they won’t mind checking for you regularly. Can recommend a couple if you want.
A lot of the deep discounting goes on ‘below the line’ - I.E you ain’t going to see it published online - so worth building a good relationship with an agent if you can!
