Passport Processing Times
Discussion
In light of the well documented issues at the passport offices, has anyone recently renewed a passport who is able to provide an indication of timeframes?
I sent my renewal application at the end of March buoyed by the fact that my uncle stated he received his within three weeks. I know the official line is that applications are being processed within ten weeks but i was wondering if any of you out there have any real time experience.
Thanks in advance and hopefully some comfort can be provided regarding my current state of anxiety!

Thanks
Renewed one. Took about 7 days. Did it all online. Piece of cake.
Great service. I suspect people are sending in paper forms, providing wrong info and so on: hence loads of delays. I certainly know dealing with the public each day: most of them can’t tie their shoe laces without assistance, let alone fill out forms that need to be accurate

Sent off three for renewal at the same time. Two of them came back in about 3 weeks, the other (daughter's) is seemingly lost in the system. Not her first passport or moving to an adult passport or anything strange.
I get sent texts saying they've emailed me about the application, read the emails and they asks for documents - but no mention of what the documents are. So you have to ring up to find out. For multiple documents the requests are one at a time, several weeks apart. Plus they want original documents. Currently questioning the nationality of my wife and need 'proof' even though one of the passports already processed was hers (and we're all boringly white British, married throughout etc).

9 days for me including f-ing up the photo, but a colleague at work who applied at the same time for a kid’s passport renewal is not finding it as quick…Great service. Another text today "We've emailed you about your application"I get sent texts saying they've emailed me about the application, read the emails and they asks for documents - but no mention of what the documents are. Email "Please send us your documents"
Again no mention of what the documents are, so on hold (current wait times 60+ minutes and line gone dead after one wait already today). Genuinely don't think we have any thing official (births/marriages/driving licences) they don't already have (and mostly originals). With a less-than-ideal health scenario for my beautiful wife, we're super keen to seize any opportunity to get away. Don't know if we can do an 'on the day' one for a child (13) or when an application is already snarled up in the system somewhere?

I submitted my son's online on the 29th April, currently says being processed as of 13th May. Today's the 18th May.
So 20 days so far.
I applied for Irish Citizenship about a year ago. Thanks to Covid it could well be another year before I get all my docs back including my birth certificate.
They took the €270 quick enough though

My other half spent over an hour on the phone to speak to someone today about our kids passport and they reckon it's 10 weeks from "when they're processed", not when they receive your application but when they actually start processing it. Apparently they haven't even started processing our kids passports which we applied for back at the end of March!
