What is your budget?
We had an excellent week in the Lakes at the end of March into April. Our cottage was booked through https://www.sallyscottages.co.uk
They list 54 properties available for your dates but anything under £1000 looks to be toward the edge of the Lakes or pushing over into the Dales.
Out walking one day we went past this place which has cracking views over Derwentwater, choice of restaurants and a pool out front - it expect it to be pricey:

Just be aware, that’s not before the holiday season that’s a prime holiday week. It’s half term for kids and the 2 day Jubilee bank holiday. We’re going camping that week and lots of the more popular sites are already fully booked.
As for recommendations, if you want a pool and restaurant you could try https://www.langdale.co.uk/
A great little spot in the Langdale Valley with loads of walks on your doorstep. Several pubs and restaurants in walking distance. Or just walk over the hill to Grassmere for even more choice.

I thought this place that the Hairy Bikers stayed at looked rather nice:

Looking for some recommendations around the lake district to take the family away. Plan to go from 28th May till 31st May just before holiday season.
Ideally would like a place with a pool and restaurant but also happy for a little cottage by the lake
We just stayed at the “inn at grasmere”. Nice indoor pool and basic gym. Perfect for kids as it’s very chilled out, decent sized rooms. Food is ok but nothing to write home about. Sadly the usual places we have been too before are not suitable for kids… :-(Ideally would like a place with a pool and restaurant but also happy for a little cottage by the lake
