This summer we end our Route 66 trip with 3 nights in LA.

Looking for somewhere to stay close to the sights preferably IHG (I will have about 100k points left) to put towards the cost.

We will still have the hire car so parking is a must.

Not sure on what location would be best and not £500.00 a night smile

Any recommendations appreciated.

Thanks.

I've stayed at the Kimpton Every (which is now part of IHG) and it was perfect what I needed. Parking was good, our room looked right over the Hollywood sign and we were close to an on/off ramp as well as West Hollywood which was a great spot for bars and restaurants.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Hollywood heights before we started our fly drive holiday back a few years back....did the job just fine, and walking distance to the 'Walk of Fame' and other attractions/restaurants, with secure parking on site.

I mean, it was nice, but maybe not 'end of the holiday' nice, if you know what I mean?

We stayed in the tangerine in Burbank, walking distance to Warner brothers. Uber to the walk of fame (hateful place) or universal was cheap.
Bob's big boy diner is a couple of minutes walk away, there's a big car meet on Friday evenings which jay Leno occasionally turns up at. Free parking and a small pool.
Free pastries for breakfast from one of the best Cuban bakeries in LA.

Depends on budget.

A few years ago I've stayed outside in Culver City at the doubletree that was a decent price.

Also stayed on Sunset at the Grafton On Sunset, not as nice tbh but better location.

Never bothered staying in and amongst the city, but prefered being nearer the beach and just driving into attractions (Universal and Observatory the last time) so chose the Hilton at Santa Monica which was pretty good to be fair.
An easy place to get parked as well, opposite a big car park.

Shame the Crowne Plaza (IHG) at Redondo Beach has switched to Sonesta as I quite like it there. The Intercon downtown is excellent but I’m not a fan of the area.

One of my favourites at the moment is the Courtyard Marriott / Residence Inn in Marina del Rey. Short walk from there to Venice Beach and you can cycle all the way up to Santa Monica. Great burgers there, too.

I've stayed in the Mondrian on Sunset Strip... it's as L.A. as you can get. When they failed to organise a car for me, they gave me a free Lincoln stretch limo for the day as a replacement!

Stayed there myself 5 or 6 times, the skybar is a popular place but you have to accept that it's a busy spot compared to a general hotel bar/pool (plus don't get a room on that side if you like an early night) but handy for Katana across the road which was always great.

But it's been 3 years since I went.

I stayed in the Kimpton La Peer Hotel, West Hollywood using my IHG points. Nice hotel. Valet underground parking. Loads of stuff going on round there, Troubadour virtually opposite plenty of excellent places to eat.

When we get to LA we will have spent 6 weeks on our road trip covering around 4000 miles
Me, my wife and 2 adult daughters.

We will have already spent a small fortune so was hoping for something nice for under £200.00
Per night.

I might have to have a look at our budget and spend some more.

If you want somewhere more suburban, I enjoyed staying a couple of nights in Pasadena which seemed to have a nice walkable city centre with plenty of bars and restuarants.

Plus you get to drive the cool original art deco freeway between there and downtown => https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arroyo_Seco_Parkway and have easy access to the Angeles Crest canyon roads.

I've also stayed at the Beverly Hills Marriott a few times, which I preferred to the Mondrian which was too "hip" for me, the room service brisket fries were excellent.

Wow, you're not wrong. We paid close to £200 a night for a 2 room apartment back in Aug 2019, albeit via one of the booking sites (Expedia or Hotels.com) I think.

Have used the Wyndham Santa Monica several times. Check out the website, seems around $300 a night.

You haven’t given dates? The only reason I ask is motorhome ! Done many road trips, did four weeks this Xmas, just over $100 a day !
