So, a lot of you pay a lot more attention to this stuff than I do these days. I don't have to spend my life flying anymore, so I largely try not to give a fk after having to endure it all for a decade or so.

As such I've just started looking for a decent holiday somewhere and have had some heart attacks. Since when did biz class become so arse rippingly expensive?? Even 6 months ago it wasn't lunacy (the last time I checked), but now it appears to be £4k pp to go anywhere decent!!

Did the govt put APD up by 100% or something??!

Yup, I can’t see the point now as 3 people flying at £12k is a holiday budget in itself.

We used Virgin to Barbados and got a better deal by upgrading to the one below their version of first at the airport but it is a gamble. It was only about £600 extra each way for the 3 of us in total for an hour trip.

I regularly fly business class long haul. I find it cheaper to fly to Europe first before taking a flight. For example. Business class Amsterdam to Manila return £1600. Same flight from Edinburgh £3200.
