Due to a complete fk up it looks highly possible that I am in Orlando for a week with my 16 year old daughter.

Our original plan was focused on Pools, lounging with maybe the odd park. Neither of us is fussed about scary rides.

As my wife may now not be able to join, and she hates traveling in a car, whereas we don't mind it, I may have the opportunity to do some sights further away.

Any suggestions? Needs to be day trips really...

Also need to replan restaurants as Wife likes fancy - we don't smile

Just seen your other thread.... Oops!

Hire a Mustang or similar and do whatever your daughter wants! (Steer her towards a road trip through the Everglades and Keys. biggrin )

I liked NASA so did my then 14 year old.

Best thing she loved the most was we went to watch the NBA at Orlando Magic, great entertainment even if not a basketball fan.

If there is a game on.

If you’ve been before everything is a lot more expensive. I’m here now. $35 from Universal City Walk to International Drive in an Uber…. it’s about 10 minutes down the road.

Clearwater, St Pete's (Dali museum, dolphin spotting boat trip, pretend you're an Indy cart driver on the GP street track route), Tampa - baseball

It's a road trip, and Google says it's 4 hours...

And you reckon NASA is dull but shopping is a good option, so what do you know! wink

16 year old daughter... rockets or clothes... hmm, let me think.

I know I've been to Florida 22 times.

Key Largo is 4 hours from Orlando. I wasn't suggesting driving to Key West and back in one hit!

Indeed

16 year old daughter = going to malls, you asking if that dress is a bit short and a nice dinner afterwards.

When you’re not in malls you’re going to the pool or beach

Make sure you’ve got WiFi at all times.

I loved NASA & lunch with an astronaut

But I get that its probably because being of a 'certain age' and seeing the Saturn V fly on TV, just being there was enough.

I always thought that was an older person destination, but I could be wrong.

Cedar Key is lovely if you fancy a bit of traditional Florida. Bit of a schlep

Thanks all. We find out tomorrow if the wife will make it out here (I suspect she won’t bother after the day we’ve had today) and then will go through this list with the daughter, attempting to cut out the malls!

Today was interesting as the airport cocked up security so we ended up being deboarded to go through again.

Remarkably we were back on the airplane 30 minutes after leaving it…
