Hi

We have been going to the same place for years now and it has been great - but i think they have stopped all inclusive. Looking for some inspiration for the title holiday type. Just a place to chill out in the sun.

Where have you been for this holiday type?

Not interested in sight seeing - just want to chill with good service / food / drinks - has to be no kids..........your cherubs are not as cute as you think !

Any inspiration welcome

Hate flying so tend to stay in Europe - I generally avoid Turkey.

Budget 4k for 10 nights.

If you don’t mind a 6 hour flight then try Cape Verde.

Mitsis Blue Domes in Kos is an excellent resort. There may be some kids but only a few as it is mainly caters for adults. Bit of a steep hill from one end of the resort to the beach but it's only a few hundred metres and you can stop for a beer half way if you want. Even if you don't go to the beach, you can't avoid the hill when moving about the resort so it wouldn't really suit elderly or disabled (although there is a golf buggy that can be requested to give lifts).

Any of the Mitsis resorts on the Greek islands would tick your box really but Blue Domes was best one I've stayed at.

You really don’t want to do sight seeing if you go there.

Been to Sal. Never again it’s like Mars but covered in rubbish. The food in the 5 * all inclusive hotel we stayed in was poor too as every single item is imported, the fish at the beach barbecue was salmon ffs

We had a very good stay in such a hotel in St Lucia three years ago. Also, have a look at Simpson Travel, they deal with plenty of non-children places in the Med; that said, they might relax that during the summer school holidays to fill places.

Exactly our experience, albeit 10 years ago. An awful place, never again.

Though, the EU funded dual carriageway which went nowhere and just just petered out into the Martin landscape was eye-opening

And best make sure the chosen resort is marketed as adults only by all the travel companies that use it. Booked a final child free holiday 6 months before our daughter was born and were rather surprised to discover that our UK travel company sold as adults only but a German travel company did not.

How about Playa Blanca Lanzarote ? We have been here TWICE https://www.hoteleselba.com/en/hotel/elba-premium-... highly recommended.

Your own little villa in lovely grounds, no high rise hotel. The premium suites is an Adults only area with its own pool, pool bar and restaurant. You also have the Adults only restaurant in the main building, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Evenings in the Adults only lounge bar with live music, or chill out on the balcony.

Agree with the sight seeing bit but if all you want is sun then it works.

It’s ok as long as you don’t mind risk of dengue fever.

And.... check the resort reviews. We did an all inclusive in Mauritius which whilst not adult only, had two adult only pools and on adult only bar, which the parents totally ignored, and the staff did not enforce in any way. If I do all inclusive again it'll be adult only all the way.

As for the comments about Cape Verde, I think its a bit of a "Marmite Destination". We have had three holidays there, each time staying in Santa Maria on Sal. Santa Maria is a lively, quirky town, plenty of bars and restaurants, perfect beach for water sports. We enjoyed our stays there.
Our best holiday was at Morabeza Hotel, excellent 5* no issues, Next, Odjo D`Agua Hotel, best location, one or two minor issues, The other holiday was in a beach front self catering apartment.
Mind you our last holiday there was FIVE years ago, so things may have changed. I`m sure Covid must have decimated the place.
I agree with the comments about the landscape, out of town its just barren, nothing, unless you like salt lakes. The big all inclusive hotels are located in the middle of nowhere, particularly Boa Vista. ( That`s why we chose Santa Maria )

Me and Mrs A311 used to spuff loads of money on holidays pre kids however your maximum flight time may limit.

Hands down the best AI we did was the Maldives. There were various tiers to choose and pay for. We went all out and got the Gold All Inclusive. Mini Bar re-stocked twice a day, room service, al a carte restaurants included.

Mexico was a distant but still good second.

As we got older the food has become more important than loading up on AI booze so we tended to do a lot of B&B or Half Board. AI tends to involve at least some canteen type self service buffet option regardless of where you go with a few table service themed restaurants thrown in. I can't say I've been anywhere where I've thought it was as good/better than eating at a normal restaurant.

I'd check out the COVID rules too, hopefully all this eases up but I've read AI places in Spain restricting the number of alcoholic drinks people can have with meals etc.

A pic I took of the interesting Sal landscape wink

We hired one of the very few cars for hire on the island, most of the roads are unmade, infact not even roads, just the odd tyre track.

Navigation was tricky at times, and i saw my first actual proper mirage.

The highlight was a trip to watch turtles lay their eggs, but otherwise there was nothing really for us, average/poor food, a lot of plastic rubbish

I stayed on Boa Vista in Cape Verde twice.

The Mars landscape analogy is correct - there's literally nothing there.

The first trip in 2014 was great - hotel was a nice standard, big rooms, large pool. At the time, we just wanted to sit by a pool for 2 weeks. We did this and it was perfect.

Second time was in 2019, just because it was a cheap deal. Same hotel. Food wasn't great, reports of mild food poisoning.

Evening entertainment isn't great either - there's only about 3 or 4 hotels on the island so choice of talent is limited. You don't really have an alternative either as there's nothing outside the hotel.

Someone described it as a luxury prison camp - good description.

Best A.I I found was in Mexico. Bit further to get there, but it's excellent.
