Due to travel within a few days.

My daughter's passport expires in August.

I did the research and US does not require 6 months of validity.
https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/non-immigrant-visa-...
https://www.cbp.gov/sites/default/files/assets/doc...

Our travel company sent out an email saying that we need 6 months. Rang them to double-check and to head off the argument at check-in, for them to ring the embassy, and say that we absolutely categorically do need 6 months. Obviously is a problem as I don't think we have any options to get a passport at this point.

Has anyone traveled in similar circumstances or got advice

I assume you mean expires?

When are you travelling? If you're renewing a passport, they do a 1 week turnaround service for a premium.

There is a premium service for around £200 that is completed at the appointment, can’t book more than two days in advance.

I believe it is now online too.

Been around in circles.

Got fed up and went to the airport. Checkout said she ain't going.

The supervisor looked up the rules and said good to go. He's there on Sunday.

Six months is recommended, not mandatory. I did it several times with less than six months remaining on my UK passport before I lived here.
The only difference with having a shorter time left is that if you have, say, a B2 visa, which can have a max stay of six months, it will be reduced and annotated accordingly. Ditto if under the VWP which is 90 days.
