How much additional time should we plan on adding when travelling by ferry to Calais in May?

The news makes out of huge delays and with little children with tiny bladders I’d prefer to be prepared

Maybe swap to Eurotunnel?

We travelled out a fortnight ago and back a week ago. Apart from allowing a little extra to deal with Operation Stack on the M20 the actual Shuttle ran like normal

Are all ferry operators having issues?

We are booked with DFDS so has initially thought the PO issues wouldn’t affect us but I’m not too sure now

DFDS had issues at Easter as one of their ferries hit the berth. Just keep an eye on the motorway situation nearer the time, maybe P&O will pass their safety tests and be operating again, maybe not. If it is school holidays when you are travelling then there are usually delays.
