I've only ever done this once booked straight thru with same airline with a 5 hr layover in Abu dhabi so went transit thru.

The kid is nipping to USA next month Skanchester to New York, the boyfriend (lives with her in uk) is nipping 'home' to Sweden to see family/friends for a few days then landing back in Manchester 2 hours prior to the New York flight with Aer Lingus.

They intend to check in online and meet in departures but can he 'transit' straight thru, he hasn't got a Sweden-NY flight, It Is Sweden/Mcr then Mcr New York and it is 2 different airlines, hand luggage only for him.

He will have checked in online but not gone thru 'security' or will he have to exit passport control shenanigans then back in thru the security shenanigans?

Even on a good day that's cutting it fine with airports and they're a bit giddy about boarding flights to America from what i gather, the daughter will have 1 hold bag if that makes any difference.

Will it be easier to do the return leg with his uk passport rather than Swedish even if he departs Mcr/Swe on his Swedish passport (he's got triple nationality spin

I hope that makes sense, put simply 'can he transit thru'.

He will have to arrive, go through immigration then get boarding pass and transit security etc as if a normal passenger.

No, he will be an arriving passenger and will have to go through the motions before checking in for the NYC flight

2 hours will be definitely cutting it fine and that's without any delays coming in or getting through passport control etc.

Well none of the mither and extra costs really necessary after all that as the complete throbbers at AER Lingus cancelled the direct flight with 14 hours notice at 11pm on a Friday night, bloody poor behaviour especially for those booked in pre flight airport hotels. Maybe they have taken a leaf out or Ryanairs book of complete lack of customer service.

After all the Covid tests were done so they had to be redone and paid for again to be within 24 hours, then put them on a layover flight thru Dublin today the bunch of scamming toerags, whilst still running a direct flight from Manchester today.

Flight bookings are not worth the paper they are written, eticketed on it seems, but no surprise there.

Make sure to claim for EU261, and enjoy the cash.
