Any recommendations? Going in early June. I found Chateau d'Etoges, which looks very nice, and whilst I'm happy to splash out every now and then I have a Meldrew moment(s) when I'm being charged extra for breakfast. Given that I rarely have much beyond bircher and tea, this irks me somewhat at €22 for this place. Also need secure, flat parking if poss. No kids or wife, just me and the car. No real budget, just needs to be a nice place to stay (with breakfast included, obvs).

No recommendations as such I'm afraid but I'd be looking at the Sawdays and Logis de France sites if I was researching.

There must be some lovely places as it's an affluent area!

Can recommend. Ensure you get a room in the main house, not the extension. Parking there felt safe as houses - the courtyard was first come, first served with the benefit of the moat, and the overflow was entirely within the gated complex.

The rooms in the extension are ok but you’re right the main house is nicer. Parking is absolutely fine, I’ve stayed there a couple of times and I’ve never been worried about the car. The restaurant is lovely and the cheese trolley is fantastic. There’s a bar restaurant just outside the chateau now and that was pretty good as well. Can’t remember it’s name but there’s a old school french bar at the other end of the village that’s worth a visit.

Thanks all, seems that Chateau d'Etoges is the place to go to, even a cursory online search keeps throwing that place up. It does look rather smart though.
