Bulgaria, summer any good with the family?

Been looking and looking at holidays, everything going up daily currently. Turkey decent flights at least £4k and thats flying easyjet or Jet2.

Stumbled across bulgaria, mainly go for a hotel on the beach, but not sunny beach have heard in the centre can be a bit like playa de las americas (tenerife) with the bars and clubs but a lot cheaper.

So have looked further along the coast, seen a few riu hotels, just want somewhere to flop on sunbed, play with kids (some have water areas for kids with slides etc which a lot of spanish hotels don't have), my kids are past the circle kiddy pool stage.

We did a week at Sunny Beach, but a few years ago.

Actually was not too bad. Nice hotel which helped a lot. Did one of the booze cruises, without the booze which was family-friendly.

At that time. card payment was not popular. Cash machines unheard of, and cashing travel cheques not easy.

Thanks, doesn't look too bad from photos, but of course the reality can be different,

Cheap and cheerful sums it up.
We saw, on the Sea Front, Crocodiles, Snakes and Monkeys for your photo opportunities.
The Crocs had their mouths sellotaped up.
Corner shops selling Guns!
Discounts for Family Tattoo's.
Don't ask about the Rain Showers-The Tourist Train was washed away down a street one day!
Cash was king, everyone wanted to change your money for you.
Fabulous Snide copy's of everything in the shops.
It was mental, I'd look elsewhere.
But that was about 10 years ago, so it may have changed?

I've been to Sunny Beach a couple of times. It's no worse than the Spanish resorts. The lack of health and safety was apparent.

Cheers chaps,

Tbh the kids won't care as long as they have ice cream, mainly looking at the Riu helios paradise, and the wave resort (middle of no where, but has beach and not too far from airport).

Going in with low expectations tbh, but for the money when all I want to do is sit on the sun bed, as long as its warm will be happy, will probably do the same as I did in turkey, just drink beer, as the spirits are usually bottom shelf tesco value stuff.

Riu Helios Paradise sounds spot on for your requirements, its south facing with own private beach in walking distance to Sunny beach - not that you need to rush there. We stay in St Vlas regularly about 2 miles along the coastline, a lovely little village with a marina and stunning beaches.

Old Nessebar is well worth a visit across the bay, a UNESCO heritage site https://visitworldheritage.com/en/eu/ancient-city-...

VIP Catamaram cruise is a fantastic half day out: https://www.go-bulgaria.com/index

Definitely go to Khan's tent for an evening of entertainment: https://sunnybeachbulgaria.eu/product/khans-tent/

You have two decent waterparks closeby that the kids will love.

Get it booked

Stayed there once
weather lovely
Beach combed daily and golden sand - there isn’t a high or low tide either.
Nessabar is well worth a walk to and have a coffee or some food
It’s not humid heat rather it’s dry heat - or was when we went.
The mountains close by had a couple of lightening which looked incredible.
It’s not far from Istanbul so a day trip could be on the cards.
There are some extremely old ruins in Bulgaria which could be other day trips.

But if it’s beach warm sun good food and drink it’s fine.
There are nightclubs and there were extremely cheap happy hours in a few bars - no different to Majorca Ibiza Menorca Greece
