Okay, hands up, I’m an idiot. Supposed to be travelling on Monday and I have - to my horror - just checked my son’s passport and discovered it expired a couple of months ago. I thought it was 2022 expiry, not 2021!!! cry

Does anyone know if it’s possible to get a same day one done by going to one of the offices? I know you can do this for adult ones, but the website seems a bit unclear for child passport renewal in the same way (he is 7).

Many thanks.

Ouch fingers crossed for you.

I remember I made the error on my own a few decades ago and from memory it was also a time with a backlog.

Got to the Newport passport office 7am didn’t open until 9am. Queue already round the corner of the street. Got in queue and waiting and waited I think it was late afternoon when I was done phew. For the Welsh fans here Jiffy Jonathan Davies was in the queue a number of people ahead of me - I had 10 odd hours to check and yep it was him.

Spoke to the Passport Office this morning - same day for adults only. Baby just tested positive for COVID anyway - maybe this trip just wasn't meant to be. eekcry

My boss had this back in October last year for one of his kids - he ended up having to fly up to Glasgow to get it sorted same-day. Not sure if he had an appt for it (if he did it was only arranged 24-28hrs pre appt)

My nephew's passport ran out and his dad has the same problem and missed out on a skiing holiday at half term. They wouldn't do the passports by appointment for kids...and it is easy to understand why...

Fast forward 6 weeks and he's is going away skiing with his mum, but only just, they got covid last week but thankfully are now clear..good job as they fly tomorrow.

Bad luck on your situation.
