Ryanair Carry On Weights
Discussion
I have bought carry on luggage allowance for a Ryanair flight tomorrow, and everyone has a bag that is within the dimensions. Great! However they all weigh 11 or 12 kilos. My wife is adamant as these are being carried on the plane they won't be weighed.
Anyone travelled recently with Ryanair and a carry on case can confirm we will get away with this? I suspect it will be a problem and the penalty seems to be £10 per kilo.

As you're not checking in hold baggage, it's unlikely that the carry on bags will be weighed at the gate. Size seems to be the thing they look at most but I've lost count of the number of Ryanair flights I've taken and not once do I recall ever having to slip bag in the frame to check this and nor can I recall anyone else doing this.
But, you never know so be prepared!

Thanks after I posted this I realised I could download the boarding passes so I presume we go straight through. But, you never know so be prepared!

I would be shocked if it was weighed, but just think about it logically, if you were told it was overweight would you not just take something heavy out the bag and wear it/put it in your pocket? They haven't descended to weighing the actual passengers yet have they?
This is always my back-up thought. Whether they can object to you doing so for any reason when blatantly in front of them I don't know. The last time I was close/beyond weight limit was carrying new gas struts for the boot lid and bonnet on my Audi. Would have needed a big old pocket. If you’re hand luggage only then you won’t go via the checkin desks with the scales - at the gate they don’t have the kit to weigh hand luggage, they just have the dimension checker so afaik they cannot check the weight.
If you’re checking in hold luggage at the desks they *may* ask to weigh hand luggage on the scales - we’ve been asked once at Manchester checkin but I can’t remember which airline sorry.
