Hi,
I would like to take the family over to Ireland for a weeks touring this summer and thinking of a campervan rather than B&B/guesthouses; does anyone have any recommendations where to hire a suitable van/avoid/do it some other way?

This would be for four people during the school holidays, for a circular tour from Dublin around the west coast and back again for a week or so....

Thoughts?

Try McRent, largest motorhome rental company in Europe. They have a depot in Dublin.

Not sure if the insurance would allow it but could you hire the van here and then drive it over to Ireland? Whatever you do, don’t go too big as you will struggle down some of their roads.

A firm I used allowed this (Abacus) and you had to pay a surcharge to cover the increased insurance costs but all of Europe was covered no problem. Be aware though that you’ll probably pay extra to get it in the ferry which for the uk - Ireland route ain’t cheap!
