Seems like the world and his wife have covid at the moment. Pretty much all my close friends and wider family. Many of whom we’ve seen in recent days.

We fly to Faro next Sunday, so obvs I’m paranoid I might pick it up prior. I’m fully vaxxed with a booster so don’t need to test, but if you have it and fly anyway is there any spot testing to gain entry?

I don’t much fancy a couple of weeks in quarantine, and it would be just my luck.

So the dilemma is… plead ignorance and just go or lateral flow prior to double check?

No spot checks going into Spain last week , just a very busy malaga airport and the locals wanting you out as quick as possible. Once they checked PL form. didn't check my covid passport. There strict mask policy in places was a pain though.

No spot checks in Faro in February that I could see. You need nhs vaccine cert and to complete the clean and safe passenger locator form - they should be checked at departure.
I’d advise testing before flying - nearly 3 hours in a sealed metal tube with 200 other people when you think you might have covid wouldn’t really be sensible?

I arrived in to Faro in early Feb, Covid vaccination status and Passenger Locator forms checked before getting to the Passport control people. Very quick process and through to baggage carousel about 10 minutes after getting off the plane.

Sorry forgot to mention that mask wearing is still compulsory in bars & restaurants until seated, in shops, public transport, etc. The Portugese govt announce earlier this week that the regulations have been extended until next review on 18th April.

We noticed very quickly that the mask wearing is 100% and is enforced, no exceptions.
