Travelling to Vancouver later this year in a party of 3. A week travelling around BC and then a week stopping with friends.

I'm struggling to find a reasonable solution to the quarantine requirements.

Has anyone travelled to Canada recently and completed an ArriveCAN application that could share with me what they did?

Do I need to book 10 days worth of hotel accommodation just in case?
Based on the rules it says that if we're travelling with someone who we don't live with then they cant stay at the same location on my plan. Also because we don't live with our friends based in Canada we cant use their address.

We're all fully vaccinated.

Possibly overthinking it but it would be good to get some advice from anyone that's been recently.

I live in the US and work in Canada quite frequently (Ontario mainly). Last time I was there, just prior to Christmas, I had to obtain a negative PCR test within 72 hours of entry and that test result logged and photographed in my ArriveCan app. No quarantine necessary. I believe same applies to UK arrivals.

They asked for a quarantine plan when I was there last. The solution is just to enter the name of whatever you first hotel/Airbnb is, definitely don’t need to worry about it. They’re scrapping the testing requirement imminently I believe, hopefully the US will follow suit shortly, I’m getting fed up of sticking cotton buds up my nose.

Are you arriving after April 1st?

News release
March 17, 2022 | Ottawa, ON | Public Health Agency of Canada

The Government of Canada announced that effective April 1, 2022 at 12:01 AM EDT, fully vaccinated travellers will no longer need to provide a pre-entry COVID-19 test result to enter Canada by air, land or water. Fully vaccinated travellers seeking to arrive in Canada before April 1, 2022, must still have a valid pre-entry test.

It might be worth booking a hotel for the first night and just using that address, that was more than acceptable to the immigration officer we dealt with. That we were moving locations regularly didn’t concern her at all. If we’d tested positive at any point we’d just stay put.

Canada is changing the rules on testing etc now so fingers crossed by the time you visit the country they’ll have dropped the quarantine plan when in reality any hotel with room service or Airbnb with access to Ubereats would be more than adequate anyway. We’re due to visit in September travelling around quite a bit and I don’t plan on booking more than a couple of nights in Vancouver at the start regardless.

Still reserve the right to test upon arrival no? So the quarantine plan remains in place until they drop that?

Ah right. I’m heading up North in May so will just use the Airbnb address as you suggested.

Ahh - quarantine plan - I'd forgotten about that. You are absolutely correct. Thanks for straightening me out.

thanks all, I'll put down the hotel in Vancouver.

Its just not very straightforward to follow, I was half tempted to cancel if I'm honest based on the red tape.

I saw they were planning on stopping inbound testing but I had heard they'd be ramping up testing on arrival. I'll do some more digging into that.
